Influenced by ongoing interests and smaller experiments
in more academic settings, this large-scale
inflatable, designed by Spanish architects DOSIS
and commissioned/owned by Second Home, acts
as a deployable temporary event space—capable of
being installed and fully inflated in about half a day
(and deinstalled in approximately the same amount
of time).
Cleverly designed in zippable sections and with
removable doors to allow a varied range of sizes
and configurations, the design was created to allow
maximum flexibility for site or program requirements.
Indeed, Second Dome I, which was installed for one
day at Founders’ Forum 2016 (and hosted talks and
cocktails), was a very different configuration from
Second Dome II, which was installed in London
Fields for a day of events for children and their
parents—including a film screening after sunset.
